Unaware

I had written a Christmas program myself and found just the right music for it and we had worked on the costumes since June. We rehearsed, of course, for I had hopes of perfection.

One speech, straight out of the Bible in Luke you know, was to be spoken by Elizabeth: "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb."

At the night of the presentation we progressed with great beauty and honor until that moment came when the Elizabeth actress announced in a full voice, "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of the loom."

The organist saved the day by immediately playing the chord for the song to follow and we sang, for I am sure with any pause, the whole choir would have been reduced to helpless laughter.
